LODGING Members of the organizing committee, Coralee (Kimbrough) Nally, Linda (Pridgen) Sleighter and the Chases,
Jim and Barbara, visited a variety of accommodation providers. As a result they have arranged the following deal for us. The
Homewood Suites will give us a room that includes a small kitchen and seating area for $119 a day. Right next
to the Homewood Suites is the Hampton Inn. These are both Hilton properties and are located on Double Play Way. (Lancaster now has
a professional baseball team, the Jethawks and their 5,000 seat stadium is located right next to these businesses right where the
AV Freeway crosses Avenue I.) Management at these two businesses are offering PHS 50th year reunion attendees a special rate.
The neighboring Hampton Inn is offering us a room charge at $99 a day. This is the standard motel room and includes wireless
Internet access. You can contact Homewood Suites at 1-661-723-8040 and the number for Hampton Inn is 1-661-940-9194.
If you have any trouble getting the rates promised ask for one of the managers, Lindsey at Homewood or Michelle at the Hampton,
or contact Jim Chase at 661-947-7334.
For those of you who are planning on traveling by RV Bob Carbo is offering a parking spot on his 2 1/2 acres. He said he can accomaodate
10 or so visitors. To be sure you have a spot call Bob or his wife Sandy at 661-942-5351.
In addition to a special rate, the Homewood Suites will host a happy hour for us on Friday night before the Saturday party at Carbos.
They have a fairly large dining area where they serve their Continental Breakfast. On Friday nights they have a happy hour in this space with a
no-host bar. So many of us who will be staying there are planning on getting the weekend started early Friday evening at the Homewood.
If you have need more information about all of this or just want to say hi, you can contact us using the means shown below.
If you prefer more traditional communications, send mail to Mike Gray, 2016 Ashington Dr. Glendale, CA. 91206
Or call Coralee at 661-943-6851.
It has already been 53 years since the Class of 1959 formed up as freshmen at AVHS. I can certainly remember those times and I bet many of you can as well. So, if you can remember 1955 and would like to share your memories with us, we're a ready audience. Send 'em on in. We'll share them with the mailing list and put them on the Web site.
Dee (Owens) Benson, 1963, came up with a photo of the groundbreaking for Palmdale High. I dolled it up a little and shared what I remember about the event. Were you there? Can you add to the information? Groundbreaking page
You'll find several Memory pages now including a couple of photos. Just go to Memories here or in the navigation bar at right.
Paragraphs that have been updated here on the home page look like this.
We've added an "other links" page which lists three other classes plus some other PHS-related sites that you might find fun to visit. Click here.
Every name in the class listings is linked to a page for that person. Some of those pages have the "What's up in your life?" content from 1999. Other pages just tell you that we've lost touch with someone. A few even have the 1959 yearbook photo of that person.
You'll find some icons next to classmates' names and a legend for them at the bottom of the navigation bar.
The little camera, , is a 1950's Kodak Retina, a folding 35mm camera from my camera assortment ("collection" is too grand a term). That icon indicates there's a photo of some sort on that classmate's page. Most of those you see now are from my 1959 yearbook. You'll notice that some folks signed their photos on their photos.
One of the navigation aids available now is that you can jump to the front page by clicking on the fighting Falcon in the upper right of each page.
Another navigation aid is an alphabet at the top of each class listing page. Click on the first letter of the last name of your classmate and your browser will jump to that section of the listing. If your classmate's name is late in the alphabet, it will jump to the last screenful of names. You'll have to scan from there.
